   A story
   A real–life story

   I want the half–truth
   And nothing but
   That’s right
   I want what no one else wants

   Sitting in that study
   That choco–biscuit
   That homework
   That English tea
   Close that door, dear

   Where was he?
   That pre–cellphone day
   Who is it?
   Never a call
   Never a tone
   Forever alone

   La–la–la
   A singer by trade
   La–lo–la
   Purchased, not made
   A sea–side transaction

   Yes, maybe
   But prolly not
   Not a promise
   Just probly not

   Such a gentle curve
   How can one manage
   Such a line to serve?
   I’m only a mathematician
   And that’s all I am

   In the cold
   It’s not a game
   It never was
   Your teeth may chatter
   But it never was

   Face the music
   Printed on the paper
   It’s not going anywhere
   Unless you look away

   Floating around
   In a sheet of ice
   I can’t hold you for a moment
